Betrayal Betrayal
Shifting sands
across the plain of friendship
deceive like a mirage
does a traveller in the dunes;
the water of constancy
quenches thirst falsely,
and I drew too close
ere I noticed it was gone.

Lies are bought and sold
more dearly
than the purest piece
of crystalline truth;
mistakes are made
at bargain price,
but an apology costs too much.
